About Our Church

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church of Our Savior in New York is officially formed in 1984. This makes the church one of the first few churches to open its doors to Ethiopians to worship their Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Faith in the Untied States. The original article of incorporation of the church was signed by the following person:

Bishop Abune Paulos
Dejazmach Zewde Gebre Selassie
Ato Tedla Teshome
Ato Abeselom Zikie
Ato Tilahun Wubeneh

Many Thanks to The Riverside Church.

Our deepest thanks are owed to the great and distinguished clergy, congregation, and staff of the magnificent Riverside Church. The generosity and spirit of brotherhood shown to our church and our community by the Riverside Church is largely responsible for the continued existence of this church into it's 26th year. By providing a chapel for our services, a hall for our weekly fellowship breakfasts, storage space and halls and other facilities for our special occasions, the Riverside Church has been our home away from home.
